Olive Shoots 10th Birthday Celebrations

10-Oct-2011

By: Pearl Thorp & Naomi Teta

Blue skies, bouncy castle, candy floss machine and a visit from Ping Pong the clown made our 10th birthday party a real success. Friends, teachers and children past and present came from far and wide to celebrate the 10 years since we moved into our new centre.

From our humble beginnings as a playgroup over 30 years ago, the centre has developed from a half day session situated at the Lincoln Road campus entrance into a full day centre at its present site.

During the welcome, Barbara Rowden the manager at the time of the opening of Olive Shoots spoke of the hard work and dedication of those involved in building the centre. Barbara acknowledged the wonderful way in which the centre has developed and grown over the last 10 years.

Two stunning cakes were cut by Noah Mataia, a foundational student and Cayden & Neo Hamilton, our two most recent students after everyone sang a hearty Happy Birthday.

Those present enjoyed catching up with each other, looking back over photo boards, watching video clips and taking time to look through the centre.

We thank God for His goodness and provision over the last 10 years and look forward to many more great times with children and their families at Olive Shoots in the years to come.
